Past regattas

2010 - Cap Canaille - by Fernando Algarvio

For its 20th anniversary, in 2012, the ABCup Regatta returned to Brittany where it originated.

Indeed, it was in 1992, that 8 pioneering crews gathered in Port La Forêt (Brittany), long before this place became the training center for round the world solo racers succh as François Gabart, the winner of the 2012 Vendée Globe Challenge.

The regatta then moved to La Trinité sur mer where it stayed until 1997. LBS and Crandfield alumni then took us to the Solent for three regattas on the Sunsail fleet. In 2000, the alumni from Bocconi were mandated to find warmer waters for the ABCup, which they found in Rimini. Following a gap year in 2001, the ABCup went back to France (La Rochelle, Brest). Bocconi then arranged a splendid regatta in Trieste onboard Solaris 36 (spectacular racing machines). In 2005 and 2006, we sailed around the secluded islands of Les Embiez and Porquerolles on the French Riviera. We tried Caiscais (Portugal) in 2007, cruised/raced in splendid Croatia in 2008 before returning to France (Port Camargue and La Ciotat/Cassis) in 2009 and 2010. Our italian friends from MIP concluded these two decades with an amazing invitation to sail and race in Venice, the legendary Serenissima.
